P08 grips with a border

Maybe my Google woo-doo is'nt up to snuff but i have looked at hundreds of P08 grips and havent found any with a border like the old Borchardt Lugers.

Like this but no cut for grip safety.

I like that style as well. I have a similar set of grips on a shooter. I am not sure who makes or sells them.

Jim Solomon has done several sets with borders; Hugh Clark has done them also but IIRC Hugh is semi-retired...

I don't think those are "original" to the old model; but I kind of like border grips- to a point.

Jim did both of these for me

A border on the baby grips; but I though a little too much border if the grips and fore arm both had borders- so only a border on the fore arm on the carbine.

Jim does great work for sure.

Very nice work. We luger collectors are very fortunate to have several outstanding craftsmen to help us. I won't try and name them since I would probably miss someone. But we all know who they are. Never pass up a chance to tell them how much you appreciate there talent. Bill

I've had folks say that is the 'swiss' style

no idea if it is, but I have had a set or two and like them

When the Swiss W+F armory began making their own Lugers in Switzerland in 1918, they used this bordered style of grips.

The much less expensive (to make) plastic canevasit orange/red grips were introduced on the M1929 Luger they made, followed by more robust ones in brown and other color plastic that are not as prone to breaking.

Here's my W+F Swiss Luger sporting it's original grips. Notice there is no border along the top or bottom of the grip, only on the sides.

I have a couple pairs of grips like this and noticed that they are basically flat with radius-ed edges where the border is. This makes the grip scale a good candidate for machines to do all the checkering, which saves lots of hand labor, thus $. They seem a bit thicker than P.08 grips.
