Not in my new book.....bummer.
Today I recieved in the post with a smile, Jeff Noll's book on Imperial German Unit markings. I like doing my own research but do to old age, sometimes I have to ask what comes first the 'A' or the 'B'.
I didn't get much feedback earlier when I posted help on a unit mark, "M.G.T.R.9.K." 1916 DWM and I see why. Can't find it anywhere in the book. M.G. (Machinenegewehr) but the T.R. that follows is not there. 'T' for trains, 'R' for Regt/Fus/Gren or 'T.R.' for Recruitung Depot of a telegraph Det but.....the 'T' is not a script 't. In Jeff's book there is no mention of M.G.T.R.9.K. even on pages for 1916 unit marked DWMs. Any ideas would be appreciated. |

I looked at the list of your 16 threads, and the only one I see in the "Unit Markings" forum (besides this thread) is for another Luger...1915 DWM w/1. MG. 21. A. markings...
Do you have a pic of this Lugers' markings???

GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! M.G.TR.9.K. is Kompagnie 9, leichter Maschinengewehr-Trupp found unit marking, M.G.TR.11.K. on a 1917 DWM...................page 93, Jeff Nolls book. Quote:

Sadly, many collectors are rather cavalier about accurately reporting the placement of periods in unit markings but, as this thread demonstrates, they can make all the difference in the world!

Do you know what regiment 9 kompanie was assigned to?
I've found this: Im Jahr 1916 aufgestellt: MGK 1-5 (Südarmee), 601-608, 701-709, 15 (Belgien), MGK 1-4 der 39.Res.Div but nothing on 9 kompanie. |

Sorry I do not have special information about parts of the the M.G. Trupps.
The M.G. units you mentioned above were Maschinen Gewehr Kompagnien (M.G.K.) and not Maschinen Gewehr Trupps (M.G.Tr.) There were a lot of different M.G. units in the old Army: M.G.A.; M.G.SSch.A. and so on. |
