Picture posting question.

I have a few pictures and questions I'd like to post about my pistol. I must be doing something wrong, as I could not upload the pictures yesterday. Do I need a certain number of posts before I can post pictures? Thanks in advance.

Yes, but once you post a couple of times you need to go to the "go advanced" button on the bottom of your post window and then scroll down to "manage attachments". The rest will be self explanatory.

Your pistol is a correct, Mauser made 1939. Although your grips are original, only looking at the markings inside would confirm that they are original to this pistol. Your last photo shows the fit of grip to frame to be a little more "off" than is usual. Please read about the correct method of removing these, as you already have a "million dollar chip" on the left grip, under the safety. The finish is original as well.
Can you please provide the letter suffix under the frame's serial number? It is hard to see in your photo and provides an integral part of the serial number. Is it a "B"?

BTW, your 1934 dated holster is rare and desirable.

Thanks much for the info. This picture is about the best my little camera in going to do. I can not tell if the letter is a B. To my old eyes it kinda looks like a D. Does this pistol have enough of a value to become a safe queen, or do you think it is shooter quality?

Whether it is a collector piece or a shooter is sort of a judgement call by whomever you ask. It doesn't seem hugely valuable, maybe $1500 on the rig, so why not roll those dice and test fire it? On the other hand, if you want a Luger to throw in the range bag and shoot a lot, then get a mismatched or otherwise "molested" gun.
I'm also wondering about the value of a 1934 holster. Holster guys?

Considering the condition of what we can see in the photos, I would say HUNDREDs of dollars... how many? I am not sure.

It's hard to judge finish in your pictures, but my guess is it could be 90% and original. Counting the chip, if all matching, $1300-$1400 for the Luger is probably reasonable. If it is collectable and all matching, I wouldn't shoot it, but that's just me. History and value drops 40% if you break a numbered part.

The holster is probably quite valuable. Await the holster experts... There were very few Lugers made in that year. The "K" date Lugers are rather rare, as are the holsters, especially in good condition. Don't keep your Luger stored inside the holster.

"42" was the military concealment code for Mauser in the year your pistol was made. "S/42" was used in earlier years. Later "byf" was used.

Well I've got three photo's of my holster. I don't have the tools for it. I think for it's age it looks pretty good. Any thoughts about condition, value, or rarity would be great. Thanks.
