One last thing Jim... the actual serial number for the entire pistol is located on the front of the grip frame... There is likely a small alphabetical character under the serial number, that is integral to the serial number to distinguish it from other Lugers with the same four numbers which would have been repeated many times during the production of Lugers...

For any official purpose (e.g., registration forms, insurance papers, bills of sale, etc.) make sure you include the suffix letter with the serial number to make sure your Luger is documented properly.

Since one of your magazines is apparently matching, "4852 d +" then the letter suffix to be found on your Luger on the front of the grip frame should also be a "d" character. The plus sign indicates that this was the spare magazine for your Luger, and not the primary magazine...
