I don't think they were buried together at all, the pistol frame is in much better condition that the helmet. If the frame did originate somewhere among german relics in Russia, then it's more likely to be a Norwegian M/1914 frame. These were copies of the M1911 Colt made for the Norwegian forces at Konsberg. Production had ceased by the time of the german occupation but was restarted by them.
If I can find the reference I'll let you all know the designation for this pistol the Germans used.
