Eric et al, I've owned at least half a dozen LPO8s with the shortened (by 1/2") barrels. These were cut off a the rear of the front barrel band and a fixed C96 front sight added. My theory as to why this was done, is that these all originally had the fine tune front sights, which either froze-up or the sight blade and/or adjusting screw were lost. Rather that remanufacturing these parts, this was the easiest method, to put them back into service. TH
