I inherited a Carcano rifle from my grandfather a few months ago and I noticed that there wasnt that much information on the web. Well if anyone knows information about a Carcano Carbine TS Beretta 1929 with a marking over the chamber VG, please let me know. Are they safe to shoot, shot it once and has a deep sound, any websites that have the ammo cheaper than 25+ for a box of 20-30 rounds? I know these rifles are not worth much on today's markets, but how many were made?

Also recently bought a Saginaw Carbine, barrel marked Saginaw-wondering if the back sight would be marked JAO; its a korean war type sight.

I don't know if you had that problem in the states but twenty or more years ago when Carcarno's started appearing in this country the ammo that came with them was REALLY hot. It was in 50 round boxes.

I was told it was 6.5x52 ammo for the M30 Breda machine gun. Appeared safe to fire (no extraction or cratering problems seen on the primers) but the muzzle flash was something amazing!

The last time a fired the weapon I used some Czech ammo and it sure was hot, and i couldnt really get an accurate shot either

You mean it can fire 3 bullets at once from one position, that enter the target from 3 angles and exit undamaged? :=)

My understanding was that JFK was shot with a 6.5 Carcarno fitted with a cheap Jap scope. It is my understanding that the scope actually hindered the operation of the bolt to a fairly major degree. Apparently you had to open the bolt and then reposition you hand on the bolt handle to actaully pull the bolt back to open the breach, similarly holding the bolt handle two different ways was necessary to chamber a fresh round.

That's only what I heard, I wasn't there at the time!

Oswald definitely could have made those shots in the time he had. The first shot was free. There was 3.5 seconds between the first and second shots. Enough for a snap shot. There was 5 seconds between the second and third shots. That gave him about 2 seconds to aim. If anyone here owns a bolt action rifle with a smooth action, go out some day and try to get off 3 rounds in 8 seconds. You’d be surprised what you can do.

The scope on his rifle didn’t interfere with the bolt, it was offset:

I read an interesting interview with Marina Oswald (his wife) one day. She said that she had indeed taken those incriminating photos of her husband with his mail order rifle one afternoon. Her Dallas PD affidavit says the same thing. Marina Affidavit And it is a fact that the sales documentation of the rifle matches up to Lee Harvey Oswald himself. It should be pretty clear to an objective person what happened to JFK.
