Erfurt 1913

Gentlemen,
I would appreciate your assistance in reviewing this 1913 Erfurt. My concern is that it may be a parts gun, as the frame serial number appears lightly struck. Best regards, Richard |
Ground off
It appears to me that the front of the frame has been filed/ground off and re-numbered.
|
The magazine is Swiss made and high quality as you would expect.
|
The sear safety says it was taken into Police service.
|
Hi, the filed and renumbered frame would essentially remove it from being of collector interest.
The act of changing the serial number could be unlawful and of interest to the ATF if done in the USA. |
Hi Richard, welcome to the forum!
It is my belief that this gun is a DWM frame whose original serial number ended with the digits 01, married to an Erfurt top half with the serial number 854. Norm |
Poorly altered serial number on frame, = stay away.
|
Plus if it was a 1913 it wouldn’t have the slot for the stock on the rear strap.

I stand corrected!! Thank you
|
Internal worker marks from the factory inspections and the rear milling pattern of the frame would help verify who made the frame.
|
A later 1913 as a stock lug added!
|
Thank you!
Thank you all for your comments and observations.
I only paid $ 250 for it, so I may just use it as a shooter. Best, Richard |
If I may ask where you got it for $250? That’s one heck of a deal on any Luger, much less one that seems to be in functional order like yours. Although it does make the specter of just how legal the gun really is loom larger.

1913 with and without a stock lug~
|
I bought it from a local gun shop along with several other firearms which were "parts guns" , missing parts, so the price was an average for what I paid for the lot.
Not a back alleyway deal, fully papered through an FFL dealer who does not like to repair trade-ins. Richard |
