Odd 1917 Erfurt barrel proof mark
I think I posted this long ago, but no one knew what it was. Took it up to Simpsons and he had no clue either.

Any markings under the barrel?
|
Standard markings, barrel is numbered to the gun.

Doug,
I've seen pictures of that mark, but can't remember where - I am straining to remember that it may be related to Tikka? Perhaps it will come to me. CRS strikes again. |
There are no halos around the frame numbers suggesting refinish. Could the T come from the rebuild?
Also, is there a bore diameter under the barrel? dju |

Third party inspeciton marking? Maybe Finland or ??? , inspected and approved/repaired before refinishing.
I've looked in all (both) marking reference books I have, and the closest is a Finn marking, of a T in a circle and later two "L" lookingmarks, but upside down and facing with the short leg away from each other. I know, clear as mud and very helpful. Rich, agree, could be a hammer- Thor's hammer- maybe one of the Nordic countries. All just my pure speculation at this time. I think not the original barrel, as it has no bore diameter designation. |
Hammer in a cercle is not for Hammerli ?
Ask for some owner using K31 , barrel hammerli or sig have trade mark |
It must be a rebarrel. The barrel seems to be missing the usual Erfurt proof marks in addition to having no bore diameter marking.
|
It could be a dealer marking as well.
