Found some neat looking display Lugers.
They're "cap firing model" guns. Kinda pricey but nice looking figured I'd share with you guys. They also have ALL sorts of other "model guns".

$338.00 takes you about halfway to a real shooter Luger.....don't see the point.

Their claim is that the various modelgun manufacturers only produce certain models at one time of year, then they go on to the next model. If they're out of a certain modelgun, they put you on 'backorder', which can mean when production starts up again (for that model) the next year. Meanwhile, they must have your full CC payment to insure that your order is reserved/processed promptly.
I kept all my emails. Here's an amusing excerpt - Hello Richard, Thank you for your order with us and our apologies for having kept you waiting. Your sea mail shipment number is CD056305414JP and you can expect delivery sometime end of next month or early March. If you have any other questions or require assistance please contact us again. My sea shipment never showed up. There is [supposedly] a deadline for disputing CC charges, but my bank at that time was HSBC and handled canceling the charges. BTW, I was able to get the Marushin modelgun I wanted on eBay. |
Here's something else I found out when I ordered a part from Latvia...
The number they quote you (like in the email above) is not the number on the item; it's the container number. 45 or 90 foot shipping container; the shipper stocks it full and ships all orders for that country together. When you 'track' your order, you're actually tracking the container. Your item is only scanned if it goes in or out. The container may be opened at various places in the destination country, or only once at their hub. DHL was the shipping service I used from Latvia, and the part I ordered was 'mislaid' somewhere along the way. It went through several DHL distribution centers along the way, and the last time anyone actually saw the item I had paid for (from Latvia) was in Germany just before leaving for the US. The seller had insured it, and they were reimbursed and shipped me another replacement item. That one got through, but in the meantime the US representative of DHL Service (a very pleasant girl) kept me informed of everything that they were doing to try to find the missing shipment. It turned out that the container was sealed in Germany and not opened until it arrived in Ohio, USA. There are many cases in The Naked City. This has been one of them. |

If the 250 units are sold out, or pre-sold, then new orders are SOL...Until the next run...Which can be the next year... I don't like this distributors practices...[TTD]...But in context, it is understandable...If you're willing to wait... Was my experience typical??? I don't know...Some don't think so...Some think it is acceptable to have to wait... You pays you money and you takes you chances... :rolleyes: |
