"Russian" 1900 Luger

I'm bothered very much about this "Russian" 1900. The price range for a "genuine" piece of this contract is way low. Also this luger is in the same auction of the obvious fake 1904 "Navy" luger #574. Both are priced in a "shooter" range but are being presented as authentic pieces. Once again: caveat emptor!

Herb, I am of the opinion that "Russian" Lugers may well be authentic...Maybe not this one, but at least the one(s) observed (and photographed) by Datig back in the early 1950's, as shown in his books...
But here's my reasoning: Even if it is an out-and-out fake, isn't it worth the price of a shooter??? Maybe even a high-end shooter??? Whatever "Russian" Lugers are, they have created a storm of controversy, and even a 'fake' could be considered collectible...IMHO... It's like 'Weird Al Yankovic' music/video parodies...They are still entertaining, and downright delightful, even though we all know they're not original... :D |
Wait a minute - a 1900 Russian? I thought that Russian Lugers were only Model 1906?
I love the description - "considerable straw" - it looks brand new to me (which it probably is - done just this year). |
Gun was discussed on Jan Still's forum. http://luger.gunboards.com/showthrea...-help%85%85%85

Richard, you make a good point and Ron, these "creations", like the fake Navy keep coming back. Mike Krause is convinced these are both creations of KK.
