Unit Mark
![]() Does someone know what this unit mark signifies? I don't think it is police because the letters are reversed. This magazine has been reworked at sometime. The base is numbered
4767 X and is proofed with small E/63. I think the mag was originally Erfurt. Could it possibly have been a Bavarian unit mark? Thanks, Steve http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/mag.jpg |
Re: Unit Mark
It looks like P.S. (B?. S.). Police School Saxonia and # of gun. Patrick

Re: Unit Mark
Patrick,
It is B. S. Steve |
Re: Unit Mark
Steve, I agree that your mag is B.S. marked as I also have one marked B.S.106. Mine also has an aluminum base marked */K over 2 over 73, so it's a good bet that they are Weimar era police.

Re: Unit Mark
B.S. is a bit more difficult. B was reserved for the Berlin Police Administration and the second letter S for the Schutzpolizei (municipal police). BUT B otherwise could stand for practically anything( place names: Baden, Breslau etc) or for a specific unit ( Bakery, Brigade, Battallion etc). Take a look for the Schiwy safety. If it had one, it´s sure to be Berlin Police. Patrick

Re: Unit Mark
Patrick,
I don't have the pistol that this mag should be with. If it were a police marked magazine, don't you think it should be marked S.B. rather than B.S.? I am leaning toward this mag being unit marked during the Imperial era. To bad it doesn't have the original base. Steve |
