Salting Bluing-A New Finish for Thor

Many thanks to Don Hamilton and his dad for the salt bluing tutorial today! The High polish P.38 I am putting together for myself, complete with rework mark of course, came out terrific! This will open up a new avenue for me and I wont have to sub out the actual chemical portion of the work, I was always doing the mechanical! My turn around for salt blued late Mausers will be MUCH quicker than the long waiting before. Makes me realize how much work the rust blued finish is, but worth it. Salt bluing is WAY easier and faster! No wonder they did it in WWII, production was quite a bit faster. Look for pictures in a day or so! Thanks DON!!! ~Thor~

I have a feeling that the salt bluing process is going to be refined to an art form now that Ted is into it. What was adopted to save time with high production rates during WWII will become a work of art that rivals his rust blue jobs. Go for it Ted [Caution-Perfectionist at Work!]
