1917 DWM Luger reblued
6 Attachment(s)
Here is my first and only Luger...among a number of milsurp pistols WWII - Cold War eras.
I just wanted to try out a Luger without spending a fortune, and wanted a "shooter". Top end is all matching parts, bottom end is all matching, but top & bottom don't match. I got two MecGar mags for it. It appeared to have been reblued then rarely, if ever fired. I have since corrected that situation. It's an OK gloss blue but they buffed the heck out of it because the 1917 is barely visible. The other marks are fairly sharp. Holster is a reproduction from North Africa campaign. My dad served in North Africa in Army Air Corps cryptography unit 1943-end of war. |
Nice shooter. The grips are also modern reproductions.

Doug,
I see a learning opportunity here . How can you tell the grips are modern reproductions? Richard |

Rich is right, that and the area around the safety is very sloppy.
The very sharp, pointed diamond tips on the chequering are also a giveaway. The grips must always show a corresponding patina to the balance of a pistol. Pristine metal with beat up grips or pristine grips with beat up, refinished metal will be an immediate red flag. |
Nice looking shooter. I will bet that you have a really good time shooting that luger. Thank you for showing it to us.

Thanks postino and alanint,
I think this kind of insight helps new collectors, like me. Rollin59, nice pistol. Richard |
not sure what you may have paid for it, but nice looking shooter.

The most important rule is: if you are happy, then everything is OK.
This pistol is a nice looking shooter, exactly what you were looking for. I bet you going to have a lot of attention with your "nazi pistol". Regards, Douglas. |
