and are they interchangeable. Eric

Hi Eric,

There were different frame lengths in variations of Lugers. There has been discussion on the board about identifying those. Here is Ron's "Early Frame Tutorial".

Each Luger was hand fitted. That's why they are numbered. So that all the parts of a hand fitted Luger go back. For that reason, they are not strictly interchangeable. Close, but not precise - and that precision is needed for a correctly operating pistol.

You made me see what a privaledgeit is to own a 100% real. I hold almost daily the 1917 all matching artillery. To make it through trenches with multible owners in the past century, I thank George daily and decided to never fire it.Beleive me I know what an honor a privalege to get you opinion. I guess in some way we are both LUCKY. Keep On Lugering! Eric

Marc makes a good point; although switched luger parts may fit, they may not work without some fitting. The Navy & LPO8 models with have a few more parts than the standard PO8 due to their adjustable sights. The grip safety lugers will also have at least one additional part, the grip safety spring. Over the early years at DWM many parts were modified as improvements: elimination of the toggle lock assy, improved extractor, breech block and FP, improved trigger & ejector, relieved sear bar and FP and probably many changes to spring tention that are not readily appearant.
