Kudos to Simpson Ltd

I recently made a purchase from Simpson Ltd of a Luger accessary in which a mistake was made in what was sent out. They not only rectified the mistake but went above and beyond in fixing it. I believe in giving credit where credit is due and Simpson Ltd is a real class act in my book who deserves my business in any future needs.

Darrell -

Could you explain a bit further??? Maybe what it was you wanted, what they sent, and your guess as to what happened that the mistake was made???

I've always liked Simpsons, and have made an offer on one of their handguns, and gotten a very nice reply (they take offers, BTW)...I would have no hesitation on buying from them... :)

Rich,
It's a little complicated to go through here but I ordered a sealed box of 1938 manufactured Swiss 7.65 ammunition advertised on its website and received a box of 1965 manufactured 7.65mm. After a call, I was told that it was in the same container as the 1938 boxes and last full box so it was thought to be of the same vintage. I was told that I could return it for a full refund, which I did. In place of my return postage cost, they sent me the last box of 1938 vintage that was open and missing one cartridge at no cost to me. The label was tattered but I am still very happy with it.

They are a class act!! A great spot for 'Luger Window Shopping'!

I've ordered a few things from them, and always been impressed with their complete descriptions. Got a nice CXB 4 softshell P38 holster recently which needed only minor stitching repair, as advertised. Also got some '50s Lake City .30 Carbine ammo and a WWII M1 Carbine sling.

Good to know they take offers, I've been looking at a couple of their P38s.

SimpsonLTD should be congratulated for maintaining the largest for sale inventory on the planet (I think). Although pricey, they are 100% honest and will go the extra mile to make certain the customer is happy. We, as collectors, are much better off with them around.

As a result of Brad Simpson publishing my book, I got to know the Simpson family rather well and they are first-class individuals in addition to being honest business persons.

I bought a pistol several years ago.

It had a cracked breechblock.

I had to pay shipping both ways.

Glad you had a better response.

That was pretty bad customer service on that one.

I purchased a Swiss luger from them a few years ago. Was listed as 95%,but more like 70%. I returned it. Since I used a credit card they charged me $150 restocking fee. I feel they are honest but still out for the maximim profit. Bill

I try to keep all my purchases within our family for several reasons but most of all most have become friends first. Nine gems and I've never been disappointed!

Big difference from 95-70% and charged $150 to restock their not very honest rating.

I would have challenged the charge on my credit card on that one.

It's these kind of lapses that bother me about them. They should know that Colt never made a stainless steel SM Ace, at best its a electroless nickel Colt custom shop job, ( not bad price if so), or an aftermarket deal, but not SS.

I guess good help is hard to find.

var99 02-04-2012 09:01 AM

I'm guessing your right, Gary, with the amount of volume they run through that place these days , they have had to delegate the cataloging of the "run-of-the mill " stuff to junior staff I expect?

Curly1 02-04-2012 12:45 PM

Well they sold it even with inaccurate info, it's a win win for Simpsons.

Since I live near Simpsons, I visit there every so often to browse their stuff. They are pricey tho. They have just about anything you can imagine. Fun to walk thru their store.

Bought one pistol from them a decade ago, and a couple of new collector books recently. Very good service.
