luger in .45 from stoeger?
 

hi, does anybody know who produced (or still is producing) lugers in cal.45? is it possible to buy one here in germany, where is it available, and what does it cost?

it could also be an used gun. thanks before. dieter

The last time that I talked to the president of AIMCO he said that they would have a prototype ready for the SHOT show that being held this month with production sometime later this year. He estimated that the price would be between $900.00 to $1200.00 US.


In the long thread about CMR reproduction holsters farthe down this page is a pictue of my 6" model from that company.

I don't have it but he is making an exact copy of the test 45 seen in Kenyon's book [LUGERS AT RANDOM] page 111---- price is over $12,000 each.

Michael Krause is still producing the exact replica .45 Luger one at a time on a limited production basis. It is a work of art and priced accordingly. the Krause-ones are too expensive...but if the AIMCO is produced this year for $ 1.200,- it would be a good deal to get one, also here in germany. how does it feel when it is "speaking"???

Were there only two DWM .45's made (The Luger Handbook)? Is that it or was there another time before AIMCO that the Luger was produced in .45?

There is some contoversy about this. An original is supposed to be in a Shreveport La. Museum. Krausewerke is currently producing the $15K model (an exact copy)and the AIMCO model is yet to be produced. I think AIMCO will find many will go for a reasonable priced one, SS notwithstanding. I think they would be wise to have them rust blued and strawed! That would make them nice, assuming they would be made from carbon steel, not SS. ~Thor~

There is an original DWM .45 Luger in a museum in Shreveport, Louisiana. It is in the Norton Gallery, and is a well documented pistol sold by Harry Jones to Mr. R.W. Norton. Best guess is that it was one of the original hand built .45's as it has the GL proof, but was not shipped to the US for testing as it has a C/N proof on the receiver. There have been rumors of additional pistols, but to date no undiscovered .45 Lugers have turned up.

So, Thor, is there some way to blue stainless steel, and will you have figured out how to do it by the time these stainless .45s are actually available?

I believe the pistol that remained at Springfield Armory was sold to Sidney Aberman and remained in his collection for many years. About 1995 there was an article in Guns & Ammo about the "Million Dollar Luger", and the pistol had apparently changed hands. I heard that the owner identified as Richard Zomber in the article was not the actual owner, but that the owner was supposedly an Indonesian banker. About a year or so ago I heard that the pistol was in the possession of Richard Ellis. I do know that the pistol was in the collection of Sidney Aberman for many years, but other than what was in the G&A article is gunshow gossip.
