Dated Luger BARRELS
I noticed last week that several Dutch Lugers had date stamps on top of the barrel (not the Chamber dates). Did these dates indicate that the barrel was replaced that year or that the Luger was reworked in that year? Thanks! ~Thor~

Re: Dated Luger BARRELS
Thor, if you have Harry Jone's book, Luger Variations, on page 100 and 101 he describes this Luger. The date is on top of the barrel but he doesn't explain it's meaning. The one shown is the 1906 model. They appear elsewhere but again no reason for the date over the barrel. Might be a pecularilty on this particular model manufactured for the Netherlands.
