Wow...that's the best looking serial number this year...
But I expect that Ed will have some words about the pics... |
Sorry, a 1910 would not have a stock lug.
I expect it to be either a WW1 that has been redone by Simson (thus the eagle 6) or a Alphabet Luger made around 1926 or so and then redone by Simson... A picture of the top, showing the date or lack of a date would help :) Ed |
That's the thing, there's no date at the top. That's what lead me to think it was pre-1910. But as I said, I'm new to it all.
Here's the top. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...IMG_0237-1.jpg |
How's about some more pictures of where the date is supposed to be.
I'm thinking it has been removed. DJU |
Kystos, Judging from the toggle assy (double c/U pre 1940 Mauser commerical or contract breech block with "purpleish" extractor, typical of 1938 or 39 finish, Commerical DWM mid link (should be numbered inside), and Simson proofed rear link, and the serials on the frame appear to be Mauser dies); you probably have a "Heinz 57" mismatched shooter. If the rest of your luger matches, other than the toggle assy, it's possible that the correct Mauser Banner toggle might match it up. A close up photo of the marks on top, right & left side of the receiver would be helpful. TH

So, what you're saying is it's quite possible it was pieced together using parts taken from other guns?
That's would explain why I've been so perplexed by the different markings. (Well, that and inexperience, obviously). I'll try to get more pictures soon, but my camera's a bit cheap, I'm not sure if it'll help at all...
