What are the groups toughts on restoring an import marked DWM Finnish contract I plan to keep as a shooter?

Whats the purpose of restoring it (that isn't meant sarcastically).

If the entire purpose is to make it look like it did from the factory and you like the clean looks like that, then do so.

If it is to get rid of the import marking, then have it done.


Otherwise, i feel SA guns were used over a long period of time and would leave them be.

It is against Fed. law to remove import marks......we've been through this before here.

Sorry did not mean an implications on the import marks. I know they are there forever. Just mentioned them as they tend to lower the value somewhat which in this case keeps the pistol in the realm of shooter it is after all mismatched and I'm sure the Fins redid her at least once already.

I'm of like mind as others here and would never think of restoring one more collectible.

The one I have has alot of wear on the finish and I plan to shoot it quite a lot. I wanted to dress the ole girl and protect the metal.

Just wanted to see where you guys stood on the Finnish contract models.

It is a parts gun... so I would say go for it if you want her to look pretty... it wouldn't be putting lipstick on a pig... This gun will always be a lady.

Not to disagree, but that is not what I have been told. It is the law to have each one put on, there is nothing that says a import marking has to stay. Proposed rules state:
There is not a ruling or law that I can find at the BATF that states it can not be removed, only that the first importer MUST mark them.

I should have left my question (still unanswered) about if Ken was still accepting new restoration work and not to bring up another gun unrelated to the original posts.

Might have a shooter of mine reworked.

He did an excellent job on my shooter. Have you looked at the photos? My shooter was in good condition physically and had some type of after market finish like Teflon or ???? . He stripped the old finish, and did some touch up. The new barrel finish didn’t match the gun so he touched up the barrel and refinished the entire gun. I don’t know how or if he will work on really dinged up guns, you’d have to ask. I think he likes fast turn around refinish work but you’d have to ask. His prices were extremely cheap for what he did; cheaper than Thor’s.



Ken is used by many dealers to Refurb their wares. He goes to all the big shows in this area OGCA, Louisville, SOS, etc and makes the rounds of the dealers. I’ve seen his work on many dealer tables.
