byf 1938
Found what I assume is an import [VOPO ?] P.08 9mm . Black plastic grips with "circles" . Refinish , rough bore . Typical of a lot of imports I've seen over the years .
1938 chamber . byf toggle sn 4242c C/N on toggle & under bbl . Serial numbers are in the usual military locations . E/63 proofs RH side bbl extension C/U on LH side frame & bbl extension , then there is a somewhat elaborate eagle type stamp over that . More or less just curious "what it is" ? Contract gun maybe ? Thank you . |
Parts gun... probably rebuilt using spare parts by East German VOPO
byf is the wrong toggle for 1938... |
I wondered about the byf , but it's numbered like the rest so it threw me . The proofs on the LH side are unlike any German military marks I've seen . Being on the frame & bbl ext seemed unusual . Are you saying these are post war applied ?
Thanks for the quick reply John . |
Hi,
Indeed sounds like a VoPo rebuild that got a crown/N proof on the barrel after the installation of a fresh barrel (if the barrel only has a crown/N proof and no serial number or 8,8-something marking). Photos would help a lot. |

Thanks for the feedback ! I'll take a closer look tomorrow at work . |
Guy, The horizontal eagle over double crown U is the postwar DDR test fire proofing. TH

Thanks Tom . I should've figured that as soon as I saw the black plastic VoPo grips .
