E/154 S/42 + mag

Gentlemen: I have an E/154 S/42+ unserialed nickel body mag . I am a little curious about it's place eg. K date , G date or just 1936 s/42. I can't find a symbol designation for this in any books but it is clearly mentioned in Still's Third reich Lugers on the mag page(125) as being a type 1 proper acceptance mark taht are correct for up to the m block of '36 lugers.I guess that would make it good for any S/42 up thru then . Why are there no symbols of this eagle acceptance in books .We all know about the other 154 mark that is the same as the B 90 etc. This eagle has 3 droop feathers on ea. side of a single centered leg . Is this possibly a replacement only variation Mag? Any help would be greatly appreciated .Isn't it wierd how Collectors can find interest in such minute details (Guillty as Charged)
Thank You, Dale

Dale,
It's my understanding that the B 90 acceptance carried over from K dates into early G dates, up to about S# 7000a. Next the E/154 was introduced then E/211 and then DWE/63 towards the end of G date production. I'm in no way trying to dispute Still's TRL. This info came to me from a long time luger collector and Aaron Davis' Standard Catalog of Lugers, which is said to have quite a few mistakes.
My guess is your mag stamped S/42 and no serial would be a replacement mag. The + indicates "extra mag", but those didn't have the S/42 and they were serialized to the gun.

E/154 mag

Mike C. : Thank you for the reply .I am aware that mauser went to the 154 accceptance mark in the G dates but all I can find is the I beam type mark for 154 ,not the E/154 as I have and Still's TRL references . I am most curious as to why the E/154 is not shown in any books and why just S/42 and + unserialed on the mag bottom that has this E/154 . I would tend to believe this E/154 may be an acceptance similar to the ac that Walther used on replacement unserialed mags for P.38's or armorers replacement mags as most P.38 collectors call them . Does anyone have the E/154 mark on any Mauser Lugers in the G date range or on serialed mags in this range. This Eagle has ,as mentioned before only 3 droop feathers on ea. side of a single center leg for the eagle mark which is different from all the other droop eagle acceptance marks . Thank You , Dale
P.S. can post picture if interest warrants it

This proof corresponds with the W 154 "I beam" proof. Replacement parts were stamped S/42; barrel, grips, with no serial #s. Again I would guess your mag is a replacement also. http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/dsc01428_2.jpg
