POLL - M1900 DWM-Swiss Lugers
POLL - M1900 DWM-Swiss Lugers
Please join us in helping provide some info. about your M1900 DWM-Swiss Luger. I am helping Members Mike and Armin to establish if a variety in the numbering of the TD levers and the trigger side plate exist and came from the factory. Most commercial contract Lugers will have the 2-digits of the TD lever and the trigger side plate placed on the bottom edge with the tops of these numbers pointing away from the side of the pistol (...I call this rightside-up). Mike, Armin, and others theorize that some of these M1900 DWM-Swiss Lugers left the factory with un-numbered TD levers and the 2 digits on the trigger side plate upside-down...that is with the tops of their numbers pointing towards the side of the pistol. If you own a M1900 DWM-Swiss Luger, please take a moment and fill out the Poll. Please remember to indicate if you think your Luger is in a factory-original condition or a Swiss Ordnance rework or other rework. P.S. I left out the E-series and the 5xxx-A series...due to a 20 entry limit when setting up the Poll. Since those are unique and some are reworked, I figured it was best to leave them out. Thanks in advance for your help !!! |
3-digit serial number, unrelieved frame, take-down numbered on right-side round, side plate digits right side up.

Here is another M1900 Swiss Ordnance Luger # 1365...for sale on Andrew Zink's web site.
It appears factory finish and has an un-numbered TD lever and the 2-digits on the trigger side plate are rightside-up : http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/p8.jpg |
Hi Pete,
the TD lever's number could be on the other side. Regards Armin. |
Hi Pete,
it's me again. I had a look on the cited web site. I am not really convinced that this Luger Mod.1900 is factory original. At least the extractor seems to be a Bern replacement (with an interesting colour). Unfortunately the rear sight cannot be seen. I guess it is U-shaped. The TD lever has the normal configuration. The direction of the number on the sideplate is speculation, at least for my eyes. Regards, Armin. |
Here is the link to Andrew's web site if others want to look at the photos.
This M1900 is offered for sale in the "Vintage Pistols" section : http://www.augustus.ch/ |
Here are a couple of photos of my # 555 M1900 Swiss Ordnance Luger.
TD lever not numbered and side plate numbers are right-side up : http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/petes_555_1.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/petes_555_2.jpg |
After Armin posted "the TD lever's number could be on the other side" I dope-slapped myself and edited my post on the 3-digit 1900 to reflect the TD # on the right-side round. That is one of the more bone head moments I have had (had lots of others but not quite that bad).

Me too...what Ron said...other side of TD lever shaft numbered.
|
Yes Pete, your Mod.1900 looks great. A pleasure for the eyes.
