Pair of Sauer 38H Pistols

Somehow have acquired two Sauer 38Hs, one marked Eagle/37 for Army use, and one marked Eagle-C for police use. Picked the Army one up to go with my Dad's Fallschimjager Badge, but it didn't have the right grips. Picked up the second one to get the grips and screws off, as well as another magazine, with the idea that I would sell it to recoup some of the cost. When the second one arrived, not only was it too nice to break up, the magazine was serial numbered to the pistol. Of course, I now have to keep both of them and look for a third to cannabilize. Given my record, maybe its best I just keep looking for grip screws, or I'll end up with another one.

Top one is the Police pistol, bottom one is the Fallschimjager Pistol. Magazine for the Fallschimjager 38H is later war non-matching.

Here's the Magazine for the Police 38H as well as the Eagle/N proofs.

William,

A very nice pair of neat little pistols. Congratulations on the second score. It never ends with just two, ya know?

Hi, maybe our forum member (here and on Jan Still's) "sauerfan" can help you out.

Hi Gerben,

Thanks for announcing me! ;-)

Thorin6,

The only dealer with a greater inventory of Sauer parts is German dealer CDS Carbine shop aka Dieter Ehrenreich:

http://www.cds-ehrenreich.de/

parts for the Sauer 38-H:

He also has grip screws available (6 Euros each! No, this is not the silver or gold variation) and from time to time also original grips (which are not mentioned in his list).

The grips on your e/37 Sauer seem to bee brown colorâ?¦or? Not sure, but if they ARE brown Iâ??d like to know what they like inside. A â??Franziteâ? brand, maybe?

Regards

Martin

The grips on the e/37 Sauer were purchased as reproductions, although the left grip may be original. The right grip is made of resin, not plastic, so I am reasonable sure it is a reproduction. The grip screws I am using right now are the narrow ones for wooden grips. The pistol originally came with ersatz wooden grips which are supposedly period correct, but they are clearly hand made and fitted to the pistol.

I'll check out the CDS Carbine site to see what they have to offer. Thanks.
