Hi All,

I had an earlier question about rebluing which Ed provided some guidance as to what to look for. It appears that my first Luger has been reblued. Here is a link to pictures of the old girl:

The grips I believe are Stoeger. Can anyone help with the ID?

The magazine is post war as it is marked with 2/1001. The AL mag bottom piece is stamped with the weapon's SN but the font does not match what is on the frame, so I assume this was done later.

I have one other question. As shown in the bolt image it appears that the bolt is defective. There is a small slot does not appeared machined. If the bolt is bad, who do I contact on list for repair?

Your old girl is a 1917 DWM manufactured gun that was re-issued by the East Germans after WW2... the Grips are EG replacements, the magazine is an EG replacement but uses and original magazine bottom.

IF you need replacement parts, contact Tom Heller... Your bolt has apparently been damaged... possibly by shooting ammo too hot for a Luger... the slot for retention of the firing pin and spring appears broken off...you will find postings by LUGERDOC in the FOR SALE forum... just post your wants and he will respond within a day or so...

Your Luger is an East German rework of a 1917 Erfurt. It has a replaced barrel and the toggle train from a DWM Luger. The grips are VOPO, or East German Volks Polizei. The bolt is defective and will not hold the firing pin spring retainer. Check with forum member Lugerdoc (Tom Heller), I am sure he can provide you with a suitable replacement.

Yeah Ron, but I didn't catch the proof marks... only the toggle. thanks for the correction. I am really only knowledgeable about the 'reproductions' I should have left this reply to you :D

Another question - is there any factory ammo I should stay away from to prevent future damage?

I searched the forums and found the Winchester ammo I am using is ok.
