Family shame

I usually don't air my dirty linen in public, but I have to tell someone. My 19-year old son just confessed to me that he finds my CZ-52 to be more accurate than my 1942 byf Black Widow, and even worse, that he actually prefers shooting the Czech pistol over the Luger! Is there anything I can do to make him see the light, or do I just resign myself to the fact that he must choose his own destiny, no matter how clearly erroneous it is?

Family shame

Don't be too hard on yourself: it is an unfortunate fact of life that children often disappoint their parents.. although not usually about something so significant...

All you can do is present them with opportunity. It is up to them to do what they can with it. ;-)

Re: Family shame,another solution! :D

It may not work, but I have been told that if you make him wear a chain with a luger magazine attached, around his neck, it may well solve the problem!!!One can only hope!! till...later...G.T.

Re: Family shame-Hey Mike

What may be in order is a blood transfusion from a true died in the wool Lugerer! I know if I gave MY son a tranfusion he would end up with corpuscles that were parabellum shaped, lol! Ted (with dished toggles)

Have you considered counselling? (EOM)

Luger vs. Jennings .25acp

I saw some moron trade a matching "byf Luger" for a brand-new JENNINGS .25 acp pistol earlier last year!!!! (yes, that Ghetto-Gun).

how is that for shame????

(hope this makes you feel better. And yes, this really happened at my friend's Gun Store last year.)

If I'd have been there...

I would have bought the Jennings first and then traded with the moron....

Hi Folks!

Alas, I must confess I was a similar disappointment to my own family. Whilst they all played with their Colt 1911A1's I was (shamefully!) off hiding in a dark corner with my Luger and C96. To this day some family members are certain I'm not my father's son

Best,

Kyrie

Re: Family shame

Hate to side with your Son, but...after a day at the range with my CZ-52 and 1921 DWM I have to. CZ functioned flawlessly, DWM gagged on almost every round, embaressing and frustrating. Another day, the DWM may perform well, but it certinally isn't consistant. My S/42 is much more reliable, but jams on occasion also. Maybe time for a Ted redo...Lugers are my pride, but not my bedroom table pistols.

Re: Family shame

Mike,

Don't feel too bad about this shame you have. My son has been around all type firearms since he was born and cares NOTHING about them. I would take him shooting when he got old enough, I even bought him a single shot Anschutz target rifle. He had a good time when he was shooting, but now there is no concern for weapons at all. I have told him that one of his trips home he must go to the range with me and shoot again. Maybe he will and maybe he won't. We all have these little "skeletons" in our closets.

Re: Family shame

Mike T, Buy your son a box of Interarms 7.62 x 25 ammo (Czech SMG ammo) to shoot. The CZ50 is strong enough to handle it (40% too hot for brooms) but the recoil should discourage him.

Re: Family shame

Hi Tom,

You have backed into yet another controversy

While "Small Arms of the World" indicates the Czech "M48" 7.62x25 cartridge is "20% hotter" than Soviet M30 7.62x25 Tokarev pistol ammunition, this may be a grand error. The only Czech M48 cartridge of which I've been able to find any mention is a 9x19 Parabellum cartridge intended for use in the early versions of the prototype pistols that would eventually become the Vz.52 (aka CZ52). Smith may well have confused pistols and cartridges :-(

Also (and I'm not yanking your chain, just offering a friendly correction), the Vz.50 (aka Cz50) is a pocket pistol chambered for the 7.65 Browning.

Anyway, all offered cordially, entirely FWIW...

Best regards,

Kyrie
