yes serial number is 2331 "t", i was told on the comercial thread it was rebarreled from 7.65 to 9mm. all i know is what i am told on this forum, i have owned several lugers before these but have never asked for help on those. Hi Dan,
Thanks for posting your extremely nice Luger. Your Luger, S#2331t, is classified as a 29DWM in Jan Still's 'Weimar Lugers'. It was made in 1929. As Jerry stated before, this Luger started out as a commercial. It originally had a 30 cal. barrel. and no sear safety. The 9mm barrel and sear safety were added at an arsenal. Most 29DWM's were procured by the Army or Police. Only a few were sold commercially. __________________ Mike C. This is what i was told on the comercial thread. Is this incorrect? thanks |

Dan,
Sorry for the confusion. It was the earlier 30 cal. Alphabet commercials I was thinking about, that were rebarreled for the police. Your 29DWM only had the sear safety added at an arsenal. __________________ Mike C. |
I agree with Don, Lugers in the "s", "t" or "u" suffix with the characteristics described above (termed 29DWM) most probably were manufactured with a 9mm barrel.

well thanks to each of you for your help, What it is a great shooter and i think turned out to be highly collectable.

The story of the Lugers such as yours that were issued to the Landjaegerei in 1929 is fascinating and may be found in a number or books.
|
thanks don, each of you has been most helpfull.
|
did i get a good buy on it for a 1000.00?
|
Any less and there would be a good case for charging you with larceny. :)

thanks, thing is i made the top offer for it and a 1918 1920 double date. i only wished i had been able to talk to the owner and world war two veteran about them before he passed away. both i consider to be way abouve average lugers, which i thought were both shooters till being advised by those of you on this forum ,who are i consider to be very knowledable ,beyond any luger owners i know, thanks again for your help.
