Hopefully, Eddie will home in on this area with his magnifying glass and tell us what he sees.

Eddie,
After much research, I'm going to go out on a limb here concerning your holster. Lots of speculation, and readiing between the lines: This is a Swiss commercial 4 inch conversion. The circle stitching and the closure are typical Swiss. There is one shown on pg 479 of "Luger holsters and Accessories". This one was converted from an ordnance revolver holster. The closure is different, but they mention the removal of the spare mag pouch on the face of the holster. But there are others on this forum who know more about holsters than I do. FN |

The suffix is a "d." I still don't see any evidence of a Reichsadler. The barrel is probably a replacement but there is no evidence to indicate who replaced it.

Thanks for the info Don. The one pic of the barrel that is really bright you can faintly see what is a complete eagle stamped on the barrel. To much cam flash, sorry about that. There is also a pic of the ejector which has a small eagle stamped on it.
I was curious as to what the eagle stamp is on the magazine? I appreciate all the help you and others have given me on the history of my Luger. Happy New Year! Eddie |
I see it now and stand corrected. The barrel is original. Congratulations, Ron!
The eagle on the side of the ejector is expected and part of the Imperial-era proofing process. The eagle/L on the mag is a Nazi-era police acceptance stamp. The mag is definitely a later replacement. |
Don, I was looking down the barrel with a magnifying glass and i noticed what looked like to stamp marks on the sight. Did they mark the sights or could it just be scratches? Thanks Eddie

Jan Still's Central Powers Pistols doesn't mention any stamp on the front sight. Others who know more about Imperial Lugers will have to comment.

Hi Don, Most Imperial Lugers (with the notable exception of those issued to Bavarian units) dated 1913 and earlier, have a small inspection mark on the front sight. This indicates that they have been retrofitted with the taller 50 meter sight blade. One would not expect to see this mark on a gun dated 1915. Regards, Norm
