Hi Steve, As you've probably realized, your rig is worth different amounts to different buyers. A dealer, expecting to make a profit, will figure it less than a collector who has been looking for this particular variation. As neither, I figure it $3,500.00. I hope this helps. Regards, Norm

Not good news but not terribly bad. BTW, can you take a photo of the proofs on the magazines. The two shots you provided show the SN and the + mark but shots of the acceptance proof are really useful. John |

The proof marks are there you just have to look at the higher resolution photos to see them. Here is just that part of the picture cropped and resized so I can post them here. Do you know why one would have the + mark and not the other?

Yes, that's the "spare" magazine that went in the holster pouch, versus the main magazine, which went in the gun.

There's a DE63 S-92 on gunbroker.com... non matching scarce early K Date (1934) mag... right side receiver stamps look kind of light/soft to me. Your rig with matching mags has more value obviously.

Thanks for all the information guys. Given the information you guys gave me here I was able to find several similar G date guns for sale to compare too although I wasn't able to find any with 2 matching magazines - that looks to be very rare. I'm listing it in the for sale section.

Thanks. That's right in line with what I was thinking - here is it up for sale: http://forum.lugerforum.com/showthre...889#post181889

FYI - sold through Gunbroker for $3,800 shipped.

Congrats. That was a nice gun you had... sounds like a good deal for both parties.

Question to the Forum. On the third photo of the holster, there is a hole worn in the leather. Is this a common wear area?
Newluger |
Peter, Not all that common but I have seen my share of these wear holes in the toe here in my shop. It does happen. On about 50% of the holsters I open up for repairs there is a bit of rag stuffed into the toe to keep the pistol riding higher and to soak up excess oil? This might also prevent the sharp sight from digging into the front edge of the toe.
There is also nothing much to prevent the pistol barrel from digging into the toe except the pistol riding on the pull-up strap. Jerry Burney |
Thanks for answering my question Jerry.
