Vince -- You're right. Although only 900 guns (s/n 27000 - 27899) carry "Made in Spain" stamp, I would bet all of them survived. It's not rare at all. And all of them are at least 98%. Two more.... look at details.

s/n 27832 from JJA 2009 March session. s/n 27449 from Joe Salter gun list (recently imported).

Since no one has anything to say, here is my summery on "Made in Spain" specifics,

(1) The rust blue finish is satin finish. Very close to the finish of postwar rust blued bolo -- not reflective, not high gloss. The color tone is close to postwar Bolo Mauser as well.

(2) The "stain" around that fix round pin (on the right side, under the rail) is NOT optional. Its role is not unlike what halo plays on stamping. Not sure where it came from, but it's a must.

(3) The edge of square pin is crisp. The head of round pin has circular tool marks.

There are other things, but those are general.

If that fixed round pin is really not meant to be removed, then I suspect that it is staked in place and that would explain the halo.

Thanks Ron!! That makes lots of sense. I believe that pin is a dead pin, unremovable. Its functionality is unknown to me yet. It's hard to guess from outside view, I need to disassemble this gun...... read postie's method, but I have not tried yet because I have one concern -- if it still unopenable, then water from air could condense inside.

It's interesting to note Astra Large Ring Hammer does not block rear sight notch at it's down position. Mauser's Large Ring and Fix Sight Conehammer do block aiming when hammer is down, and Mauser applied higher rear sight on Fix Sight Small Ring, the intention was probably to solve that problem. Astra was a very late gun, it does not have this problem from the beginning.
