LugerDoc,
You are correct in assessment of the large frame Erma Luger .22 guns, like the La22, Ep22, etc.
However the smaller frame KGP series, the KGP69 is a great little gun, feeds reliably and is accurate. A much better made gun, you can feel the weight / size ratio difference. The KGP69 Erma is also much closer in shape to the original P08, just smaller.

That is a cat-hair on the gun, not a crack, in my lousy picture.

Tac, I have four of these KGP69, and would rather think of them as all steel, but actually I believe the frame is alloy, maybe a denser alloy of aluminum, and painted. The gun is just as heavy or heavier than the La/Ep22 size Erma, but it has more parts, a true hold-open, and a magazine safety that works.
One of my KGP69 guns has some edge wear and a slightly peened area on the frame, that show thru to the metal and I really don't think it is steel.
I will try the magnet test tonight, and re-post or edit to confirm.
If alloy, it still must be denser, have a better mix, or be thicker. One thing, is I believe the larger Erma's have an aluminum barrel and steel bore-sleeve, IIRC. The KGP69 barrel is all steel, I'm sure.
