Ed:

When they issued the guns to the police did they include the holster like I mentioned above, the two mags, and the take down tool?

The reason I ask, is my take down tool has a eagle and below the eagle is a stamp that that looks like it has the starburst. Its much much small than the one on the rear toggle link. Did they make anything like that?

Karl, I am unsure

Roy, from what I understand, the pistol was issued with the two matching mags from the police armory, it is beleived that they stamped the serial number, but not compeltly known. The holster would have been issued at that time, because the tool and extra mag would have to be put somewhere, so I think it would have been issued as a set. Received at different times, but marked by the armory and issued together.

Karl:
I'm new at this Luger stuff, but I can tell you the Starburst you have on your mag is the same as the one on my rear toggle link and on my take down tool.

Ed, can you tell me or recommend a book that might tell me, how my 1918 DWM Luger went from WWI, to the police and in 1944 ended up on a dead German bomber pilot where my friend got it and brought it home in 1945?
I know there is no way to have the exact dates but just some rough idea is close enough.

Did the police, when the war started, just bring their side arms with them, or somthing like that?
