You would need a full strength or better recoil spring to return to battery with the heavy barrel. On the other hand it would not be too much of a problem to run heavy loads with the bull barrel. This is the same action design as used in the carbine. the design strength is there, the only question is proofing for heavy loads. (A question that does not carry much weight with 44 Special shooters.)

Hugh, are you keeping the Texas roads safe for tie rods with that piece you have?
