Hard to imagine why a frame would be mismatched and all the other parts would be matched.... I do agree that towards the end of the war, anything could happen, and it is true that armorers repaired items, but the frame being mismatched just sounds odd to me....
Things I would look for; Do the bring back papers show a serial number and if so, does it show the frame number or another number? If it shows the left receiver number; then maybe the frame was replaced later? The price is high for a obvious mismatch, even with the vets story, but he's at least 82, if not several years older, so hard to say how well he remembers..... Ed |
