Default Re: Bump On the Rear of the Frame??

If I remember correctly, the flange on the axle pin was reduced in diameter and there was a problem with the smaller flange letting the pin move enough during recoil that only a very small part of the flange was supported during recoil and it tended to crack the edge of the flange. The hump on the frame extended far enough back to support a larger area of the flange.

The hump shows up on a few K Date and G Date Lugers, tends to go away in 1936 and then returns in 1937. It is very strange that it only appeared sporadically until 1937.
