Add me to the list of those who say shoot it first to see what the existing barrel will do. I have a 1927 Argentine Colt .45 with the original barrel. The bore is a sewer pipe. Funny thing, though.... it shoots beautifully, especially with cast bullets! I've owned the pistol a dozen years or more and it still sports the original barrel. I can't imagine a new barrel being one bit more accurate!
