Diesels are dinosaurs, and the big rock is coming fast. European cities are quickly turning anti-diesel as they realize the polution problems they create.

They never really caught on in the US because road diesel fuel is much more heavily taxed than gasoline. If it had been a level playing field you'd see a lot more of them on the US roads. But now, it appears we dodged a bullet by not having a lot of them.

Google European diesel problems and you'll see a flood of articles dealing with the issues.
