Norm, that is phenomenal news. I sometimes travel overseas, and know the anxiety involved with leaving things at home. Unfortunately it can become the dominant experience of the trip when problems start appearing on the newscasts.

I started using the silicone impregnated socks for storage of my firearms a couple of years ago after seeing some of the write ups on their effectiveness in flood and fires. I imagine that you could use spray silicone to saturate regular socks and achieve the same results.

The "Pelican" brand cases offer versions with an "O" ring seal that are waterproof. I'm starting to consider the wisdom of getting some of them... They would melt in a fire, but might be a good alternative.

Again, I'm so happy to hear that everything worked out OK. Now, how was the vacation otherwise?
