Most likely if the sn matches on the toggle is that a 42 (code name for mauser) was put onto your russian capture. These were many, many times matched, either with correct parts of forced matched. But the code of 42 did not start until the nazi's were well in power, so obviously the imperial 1917 era did not know that was even coming.
