Eric, I did indeed recieve your excellent photo's and the screw in section is clearly in evidence. I could be wrong of course but I do not believe an original type rod was ever made with this screw on shaft feature. It is inherantly weak and prone to breakage. A very bad idea an completely unnecessary.
At any rate..I would not go to any great lengths to repair this one but instead, put my money towards aquiring an original. Ron, No doughnuts necessary! I am trying to lose 20 pounds! Jerry Burney
