Default YAML 8--Battlestar Galactic

Episodes "Pegasus" and "Resurrection Ship"

Commander Adama and Admiral Cain meet in the Admiral's quarters on "Pegasus". She is a gun collector, and the walls of her ready room are lined with antique guns. A Luger is obviously visible in the background during the scenes.

What you caught there, eagle-eye Dwight, is a major gaff by the props department in relation to the story arch. The premise is that the fleet under Adama's command is searching for a tribe of their kinsmen that fled long ago to a distant planet to escape a menacing enemy. Somehow they know the name of the planet, and they have only a vague idea of where it is. The planet is Earth, and WE are the long-lost relatives. How the hell could Admiral Cain have a gun from the planet they have not yet found?????

The good old standby --- Parallel Evolution !!!

Dwight, I am curious; how many times did you see this episode to spot the Luger ? If only once, I gotta have you with me at more gun shows

Pete,

I'd like to claim that I saw it on first viewing, and I think that is the truth. Frankly its been awhile, and its hard to remember.

Its rather hard to miss, it is in at least three different shots in the first of the two episodes (this one is the ep. I took the frame grabs from), and you see that one of them is fairly prominent.

Hello All,
I think someone wished that we all saw this Luger as it is mounted on a plack that is a different color than the back ground walls. On the top shelf in a display where it would be easily seen. Must be a Luger lover on the set!!!(I wonder which one it is?)
Look's like a webley pistol just under it also, and in the second case, second shelf, could be a 357 or 44 mag S&W???. I guess old "George" did a little traveling when we wasn't looking.(HA HA)

MG,

Actually its just on the wall, I did some Photoshop manipulation to make it a little more visible.

I am sure budget and personal preferences had alot to do with prop selection. Look at the weapons they use in day to day action. They stayed away from rayguns and chose to use more futuristic looking 21st century weapons such as the Beretta Storm and the Vector CP-1.

Hello Mr. Gruber,
Ok I see what you did, I have not seen this Episode and did not know it was changed(which season are these two from?). Still looks like a nice Luger thou. Great Show, a LOT better than what's on ABC, CBS, NBC now days.

Its from the second season, about halfway through. As in the original series, this new one also comes across the Pegasus.

It's even worse than it appears. As an eye doctor I can attest to the fact that the eyeglasses in the picture date back at least to the time of the Luger. Also, I can't imagine anyone would be wearing eyeglasses that far in the future.

lol,

They also seem to be struggling with the ideas of telecommunication and the information age. Bakelite phone and a whopping load of paperwork.

Having a luger on the wall is easy; once time travel, teletransportation, and worm holes are conquered.
Imagination helps too.

Imagine a writer with a friend that is an impressive gun collector who regularly provides one or two firearms to film producers.... and a friendly producer that will hire the writer's gun collector friend to provide his collection gems for a day or two of filming...

You got to love Hollywood!

I have a friend that knew Richard Hatch and had studied with him. He died in 2017.
