I find it interesting as to how much powder/pressure escapes from around the bullet and exits the barrel before the bullet does. Awesome photography!!

Very interesting....it seems there's a very short period in which the cartridge case expands and the gases pass by the bullet before it fully seats itself into the rifling. I've heard that before in theory, as a cause of plain lead based bullets leading the bore right ahead of the chamber as the gases melt a small part of the bullet base.

Thanks. I have always wanted to see if the toggle bounced!

It would be nice to see an extreme slow motion of the Luger action looking down, to watch the ejection. I've heard that the spent case hits the receiver due to the placement of the ejector, and is one of the inherent flaws in the design. I've noticed the empty cases all have a mark and are oval shaped so by deduction it seems to be happening but visual evidence is always interesting.

Normally speaking, the extractor works good enough to extract the spent case from the chamber and throw it upwards. When the extractor spring is somewhat weakened, the case will indeed bounce off the receiver rail during extraction, leaving a small v-shaped dent in the case mouth.

I had a P.08 that had difficulty extracting and it would mostly throw the spent cases in my face or on my head. Replaced the extractor spring and the cases happily landed on top of the cealing of the shooting stand
