Swiss .93 grain bullets

I have recently been thinking about purchasing some original Swiss .93 grain ball .30 Luger bullets, and I was wondering has anyone had any experience with these units?? I see they have a cannelure groove pretty low on the bullet, otherwise they look the same as our US offerings... What's the reason for the groove, you couldn't possibly crimp the case mouth in it, your OAL would be extreme??....any thoughts or experience out there?... best to all, til...lat'r...GT

I have never seen the bullets that you are speaking of. Are they .308, or .309in. in dia.? Are they FMJ or JSP(like many I have seen in USA)?

The cannalure on the 93gr Fiocchi JSP bullet in their 30 luger ammo is set quite low on the bullet. The OAL on 30 Luger is pretty long. The 30 Mauser bullet has a cannalure that is too low to use for 30 Luger, and I add a cannalure above it so that I can load it into 30 luger brass.

Do you perhaps have a picture or a link to these bullets? I am always trying to find better 30 Luger bullets than I have available currently.

GT,

OAL for the 7.65 Parabellum is 1.173 inches.

I bet you the Swiss offerings match this OAL perfectly when loaded to the cannelure groove.

Hi Sieger, Actually since my last post I found a picture of the Swiss round and see that the brass is actually spiked or crimped into the bullet groove about 1/2 way up the brass neck on both sides.. at least from the picture is appeared so?? there isn't a cannalure on the mid part of the bullet... I would imagine they didn't want a round to telescope using automatic weapons.. As it appears, it shouldn't have any effect on loading or shooting... I will probably put a, "correct for my purpose!"cannalure on them just the same.. I'm mostly after the 93 gr. ball aspect of the bullet... Best to all, til...lat'r....GT

By the way, do the Swiss use the same .309 diameter the Germans did?

So the Swiss load that you saw is using the bullet cannalure for a place to indent/crimp the upper brass neck, not the case mouth, into? Most interesting to say the least. Some of the American ammo, especially the SD ammo, has a case cannalure to help keep the bullet from moving deeper into the case and raising the case pressure. Many of the SD rounds get chambered many times before they ever get shot.

Very nice looking "projectiles"!

A 0.93 grain bullet is awful light. Lightest I've ever shot was a 90gn bullet.
