Is a 1914 Erfurt Artillery worth as much, and as rare as, a 1914 DWM Artillery?

Darius..A 1914 DWM would start at around $10,000 Perhaps much more..a 1914 Erfurt..is not common but not rare..maybe $3500-4500?

Maybe a little but this is a very decent offering from a respectable dealer who knows a matching pistol. Condition is a little off but anyone looking for a 1914 Erfurt..This might be a consideration. UNIT marked Artillery's ARE rare.

Yes you're right Jerry.
I just think it's misleading as being on the same level as the 1914 DWM. Had I not known from Bob Young that the 1914 DWM is the "holy grail", I would have believed the ad, until I was able to get the opinions of advanced collectors. For the novice, that may not know of this forum, this misrepresentation could potentially lead to a quick sale!!! just my 1 1/2 cents

The 1914 DWM Artillery may be the "Holy Grail" of Artilleries, but it's far from being the Holy Grail of Luger collecting! There are other Luger variations that are far rarer and more desirable, the 1904 Navy, the Cartridge Counter and the .45 Cal, to name just three.

the Blue Book (S.P. F) states: "1914 date is only one seen, 8in barrel" referring to the 1914 Erfurt Artillery.
And with the Imperial Unit Marking, it's even in lower numbers available.

1914 was the only year Erfurt made an Artillery.
Still's Imperial Luger states only about 5% were unit marked.
23000 is shown as # produced;I think it was a much lower amount.
It took me 10 years to find a 98% 1914 Erfurt Artillery.
