Question Why makes this FXO magazine cost so much?

Can anyone explain why this FXO mag would be worth about $120 more than they usually sell for? This auction is a complete mystery to me. The bidders ID's that I know quit bidding more than $100 lower than it is now...

Where the heck are prices headed if common magazines are going to start selling for half of what you might pay for a shooter?

Hey Guys, I have about a dozen of these and they are all on sale for $250 each, and I'll even pay the postage (with insurance)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These normally sell for around $125 to $150. I don't understand it either!!

It is because, given the right pistol, they dramatically enhance its SELLING price. I must admit that I have used them more than a few times to increase my cash balance.

This past winter, I bought a couple minty FXOs on Ebay for less than $100.00 ea. I do remember that there were a lot of FXOs up at the time, so maybe the availability temporarily diluted the price. I think this current auction is a temporary "blip" some crazed bidders have created as there are many dealers who have them for less.

I think the sale was enhanced by a beautiful series of photos and an excellent presentation. All sellers should take heed of this.

I wonder if the buyer would want another one in just as good shape for the same price?

Just when you thought you had heard all the Luger collecting pitches, another one comes along. While looking at a 41byf/wood grip at a local shop, I was told how it was a "Black Widow" because it had a mag. with a black bottom. The salesaman continued to tell me and others that were there that they were called Black Widows because the early ones had grips and mag bottoms made from the bones of victims of the SS. So there you have it, not only is the mistery of the Black Widow solved, but we know what Bakelite is as well... I kept quiet and smiled, but really wanted to ask if the SS pilots carried these when they bombed Pearl Harbor.

The youth of today really scare me.

That's a great "dealer enhancement" story Mr. Duke...

I see this is your first post. Welcome to the Lugerforum.
