Default Luger Holster? Navy? Real? Repro?

New to the forum, I hope you can help me with this item I picked up today.

I am not sure if it a "real" or repro hoslter, German or otherwise.

Sorry for the poor pics, snapped what I could before having to charge the camera battery.

No marking at all that I can find which I find unusual for a supposed item of German origin. I always thought they stamped/marked most things to death.

If more specific pics are required to nail this down please LMK

NO TOOLS in the pouches.... 8^(

THANKS

In my opinion this is a reproduction and a poorly executed reproduction at that. This holster has many of the earmarks of products coming out of Pakistan

Agree; it appears to be Paki goat peelings; the sniff test should confirm as these things have a distinctive odor.

"This holster has many of the earmarks of products coming out of Pakistan "

Could you please point me towards some Paki copies so I can compare. How long have they been making repro luger holsters?

"the sniff test should confirm as these things have a distinctive odor."

What would it smell like? Smells like leather to me, I am not a Luger guy so I have no other luger holsters to compare it to. The leather really smells no different then my WW2 Kabar sheath or an M6 leather sheath.

If anyone here is in Tucson Az and wants to give it a sniff LMK.... 8^)

Thanks

AK, This is as previously stated... a poor representation of a type 2 Imperial Navy likely made in a poor third World country, perhaps Pakistan or India.

Most original Imperial holsters smell like stale tobbaco, leather & must. The thing you do not want to smell is leather only. That means it is likely new.

It is best if you are going to dabble in Imperial Navy items that you first invest in a good book or two. There are several good ones on the used market..I suggest Benders, Luger Holsters & Accessories. Expensive but worth the money.

Could you please point me towards some Paki copies so I can compare. How long have they been making repro luger holsters?
Most people who have them are not anxious to show them off or put them in books.
Repro's began almost immediately.... after 1945 to present was the most prolific.

Please see the guidelines for posting photos in the New COllectors forum. Please post ALL photos HERE on the Lugerforum and NOT on a free web hosting site like Photobucket... Some folks like me have filters in use where these types of sites can't be viewed during business hours.

One more poor repro of the holster for the Navy Ground Forces in Flandern/ Belgium.
We know still documents of the Reichsmarineamt which allows us to know that the original holsters oft his type were made from 1917 on.
