Faux Pearl Grips

Anybody know who might have produced these and what their value might be? They are about twice as thick as walnut grips. They have a Black border and backside. I am unsure of what the base material is (almost seems like some type of hardwood dyed black) The grips are nearly mint. I tried them on my Luger, They were a decent fit, but were strange feeling. I used to have a Desert Eagle and thats what it felt like. Someone with large hands would love these.

Adam, lots of people hate these type of things.

Two or three people vocally say they are acceptable. Brother Hugh likes them, as do I!

I have a set on my 4 inch bull barrel I call it nickle, but i think it is satin brushed metal, it was made by John Martz, the master of the Luger in my opinion!

Go to the member gallery, I think my section is one of the first or second page, and find ET's Toys, you can see how it looks on that page. Or at least what the gun looks like, it is possible that the grips aren't on mine, but they look good on a shiny gun!

And I have big hands, so fit well,

Wasn't this made by a company named "Scott" or "ay Scott"???? was a real big seller in New Orleans and Detroit.

Adam, they were sold by a company named Sile, Inc. in New York. I believe they went out of business in the 70's. They were originally $10.75. They were (are) made in Italy. I have a set exactly like yours in the original packing.

Thanks guys. I am glad to hear someone enjoys these. I am a big guy and they are still larger than I would like for them to be. I might be interested in trading them if anyone needs them.

Hello Adam,

You might chase down a pair of VOPO grips...

These are much thinner than your ivory-like grips and have the same feel in the hand as wooden grips. Some of us who have shooter lugers with their original wooden grips, use the VOPO's at the range so we do not add any wear/tear to the wooden grips.

VOPO's can be had for around $ 25.00- 45.00 per pair and pop up on e-Bay from time to time. Luger Forum member Lugerdoc (aka Tom Heller) sells them as well. He is listed in our Links & Resources section...

I agree with Pete... these VOPO's are the best shooter grips you can find... (not counting custom wood from brother Hugh Clark) ...they are durable and comfortable...

And the fit on Mausers is excellent. Not so great a fit on an Erfurt. I have never tried them on a DWM...

Adam, Your Faux Pearl grips where made for many years by the Jay Scott Co. They made this type of grip for many different pistols. Even though they are no longer being made, they appear quite often at gun shows and from gunsmiths with new old stock. TH
