Luger Cleaning Rods

Hey everyone! I have a chance to buy a case of original luger cleaning rods with wood "barrel" handles. I dont know what the marks on them are, if any. My question is, How much are they worth if sold individually? If anyone knows, or is interested in buying a few let me know. Thanks.

Adam, if real, I am sure many would be interested?

I say that, because there are many fakes or repro's out there?

Many times I check at e-bay or the gun auctions and get a feel for what things are worth, if that is any help to you,

If real, expect to get $150-200 apiece; if fake (and they probably are) expect to get $15-20. If I have time today, I will do a pic of a real one and two fakes and send to Ed for posting.

Thanks Tom, I will be glad to post for you, take lots of pictures, and I am on broadband now, so picture size doesn't matter, they can be as large as you want.

Thanks Tom and Ed, I am told these are imported and very old but unused. The company that imported them garantees them to be original and only has a few cases left. I was going to place the order in the morning, I just wanted a rough idea of the value either way. For the price I can get them at, it really wouldnt matter if they were fake. I would love to see pictures showing the differences. Thanks Again guys!

Adam, I assume that these "wood barrel" cleaning rods are for the 8" barrelled LPO8. Sarco sells some pretty good copies for $20 and years ago Navy Arms had some rough ones as cheap as $5. Also Finland made some issue rods of various lenghts, with smaller than normal "wood barrel" tops. Since there were several types of German originals, made at various times (See Still's "Imperial Lugers" page 113) it is sometimes quite difficult to tell the difference. Also don't count on Imperial proofs (crown over a letter) as authentication, as these are also being faked. TH

I called the supplier and was told these were originals and have a 100% garantee. But they have sold out until July. They are getting these in in lots of 150+ and have allready sold 300+, so do you beleive it is possible for there to be that many unissued originals comming from the same supplier? I dont want to take a chance on back ordering these unless some of you think its a good idea.

My gut feeling is that they are NOS (new old stock), but not pre-WW2, probably as Tom said, they are copies. so if you can get them cheap enough to re-sell on the forum and e-bay, it might be worth it. My gut feeling is that it is more trouble than it is worth, a shame you can't see what they are ahead of time? So you could judge quality, age, etc.

Thanks for the info Ed. What would you consider to be "cheap enough"? I really dont know if its worth the risk, but I am sure I can get a refund through the suplier if I am not happy with the items. Considering the three month wait for delivery I might just forget about it.
