luger help
I HAVE A 1940 LUGER, CODE # 42 ON TOGGLE. IT HAS 3 EAGLES ON RECEIVER, WITH TWO OF THEM WITH THE # 655 & THE OTHER EAGLE APPEARS TO HAVE AN MARK OF SORT AT BOTTOM (CAN'T MAKE IT OUT). THE BARREL HAS AN EAGLE ON IT. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT ALL OF THIS MEANS?

To include any letters next to or under the serial number? Can you provide pictures, to include side, top, etc? This is a fairly common year, I have one just like it, Mauser made over 100,000 of them. But if in good shape and original still worth $800 - $1100. All depending on condition, if original etc. Oh and in on-line computer writing, using all capitals is the equavalant of YELLING, so using both upper and lower is easier to read,
