Default 1900 AE and russian capture side by side

One can read articles and post on this forum about the different designs and features of the luger. It was interesting to finally compare my two lugers next to each other and see the differences in person.

My first luger was a 1900 AE, 30 caliber
Next luger is my new russian capture (I think) - 9 MM

Just thought it would be interesting to take a couple pics side by side and see the differences.

Interesting...Have you swapped the magazines to see if one will work in the other?

Does the Russian Capture have the XX'd out serial???

From what I have seen, the sn is only 'x'd out if the frame or receiver is changed, otherwise, the 'X" is on the left, i assume to show it was checked by the repair person.

The replaced parts will have the sn 'x'd out and new number put on.

Keep in mind that your russian capture has WW1 and WW2 parts

The obvious things between a 1900 and 1908 to me are;

1. Toggle that includes different ears, different ejector
2. Barrel length and caliber
3. Frame is longer on 1900 (see tutorial in archived area)
4. Trigger, firing pin, take down i think is slightly different

I noticed some obvious diffrence in the tension on the receiver when you pull the toggle back. My 1900 has no where the tension the russian capture luger has. The 1900 however does have the leaf spring style as the other has a coil spring in it. The 9mm luger just feel beefier in your hand ehen holding it.

I havent tried changing out the magazines just yet, but looking at them side by side there are no obvious diffrences. This weekend when I go shoot it I am going to see if it works and chambers good.

I cant wait!! Im a little excited to just go buy a box or 2 of some 9mm rounds and let loose. Gently though, as I dont wanna abuse the luger. I just wanna enjoy shooting it.

I do eventually wanna try and find me another good AE to add to the collection. Them are just beauitiful guns. I have heard some talk about the long slinder 30 cal barrel and how good it looks. I tottaly agree with that now.
